Blog Post: What’s Behind Your Mask?

One of my most favorite things that I love to do as a Career Strategist is help others get back in touch with who they really are behind the mask we all put on for society.   Who are you really behind that mask? Here are some examples:   Are you really the scientist or is that who your parents told you that you should be?   Are you really the serious businessperson or are you the zany, creative, fun-loving person beneath that mask?   When you take that mask off – you allow yourself to be who you are truly meant to be and the world benefits from you being your unique you.   Find a way to express who that person is behind the mask each day and it may be outside or work – maybe your secret life is a love for belly-dancing, pottery, dancing, singing, etc.  Whatever makes your heart sing – start allowing yourself to be and celebrate that more often.  If you need some help in removing that mask, take a look at the exercises in my book: "Finding Your Passion:  The Easy Guide To Your Dream Career."

 I would like to start with thanking you for changing my outlook on the future and giving me the much needed confidence to go out and take on the world. I am very fortunate to have been invited to this presentation and feel I now will make it through this tough time with the tools that you and Mr. Blair presented. I have worked for the last 42 years - yes 42 - and didn't have a clue on how to go about looking for a job or the skills needed to land one, that is until I came to your presentation. I am so full of confidence that I can and will get employment that even my wife feels it also! I am currently doing my homework on just what my ideal job would be and now know that if I don't start there I will be able, with the tools I just learned, to get there. I could go on for hours and pages but will summarize with the thought that the TV show you and Mr. Blair referred to is a must! This is the type of knowledge that needs to get out, especially for those who are unable to attend any future presentations in person.   Thank you again for your time.
