Blog Post: Times They are a Changin'

If you are an employer in today's economy, it is likely that you have had some recent experience with unemployment claims... If you are trying to fight them you know that you will quickly find yourself in a hearing to determine whether or not the ex-employee is eligible. Well, in the past the HR Manager or Office Manager, etc. would go to the hearing... prepared with their file on the employee including all of the documentation leading up to and including the termination. This is no longer enough. Recently there has been a shift in the way the hearings are held. Now, the HR Manager needs to bring with them witnesses. Was the employee insubordinate to their supervisor? Bring that Supervisor with you. No longer does the Administrative Law Judge want to just read the documentation, they actually want to hear from the Supervisor, in their own words, what happened, how often, etc. This is a big change from what was standard for Unemployment hearings of yesterday.
