Employment Opportunities

As our population ages the demand for in-home care rapidly increases. Convalescent homes are no longer the only option. The trend for older adults has changed to independent living, whether in their own home or in an independent living community. Despite physical inabilities, older adults have a choice and often that choice is to stay in the comforts of home, so we bring the care to them. This presents many employment opportunities in the home care field from care giving to office personnel positions.

Age Advantage care giving positions include companions, home health aides, on-call caregivers, and certified nurses aides. HHA's and CNA's require specialized training which include classroom time and hands on training. Companions to CNA's job expectations usually include: Light housekeeping, running errands, assisting with personal care, charting, medication reminders, safety supervision and, assisting with mobility. Working in a client's home differs from working in a hospital or convalescent in that the caregiver is also a companion responsible for the physical, emotional and environmental needs of their client. This field is unique in that schedules are somewhat flexible and can be designed around stated availability. Age Advantage is seeking individuals who have an outgoing, positive attitude, a gift for helping those in need, and who enjoy working somewhat independently.

As in any industry there is may be room to advance to office positions for those that are interested, qualified and hardworking. Age Advantage Home Care offices often staff Client Consultants, Care Coordinators, Schedulers, Office Assistants and Field Supervisors.

These positions require organized individuals with computer and office skills, excellent service skills, and a familiarity with care giving for older adults.
