Argen was established more than 40 years ago in Johannesburg, South Africa. The name Argen is derived from the Greek word Argentus which means Silver.
The Beginning
Initially the business was focused on the production of precious metals for a wide range of industries as well as refining. In its early years, Argen quickly captured 75% of the gold dental market and 90% of the jewelry finding business in South Africa, becoming one of the top two metal suppliers to the jewelry industry.
Current San Diego Job Openings at Argen Corporation
Argen's manufacturing facility sits on close to 3 acres and is unparalleled for the production of dental alloys. From weighting tolerances of hundreths of a gram to microscopic analysis confirmaing homogenous alloys, attention to detail permeates the entire process. Using advanced vacuum metallurgy techniques and continuous casting fabrication methods, alloys of uncompromising quality are produced.
Raw Materials
Using the purest raw materials is only the start at Argen. For dental alloys, which are medical devices, there are other safety concerns such as radioactivity and the nature of the impure elements. All incoming materials are evaluated to ensure they meet Argen's stringent specifications.
Research
Alloy development is an ongoing process at Argen and there are multiple projects in progress at any one time. Today's demands of aesthetics, functionality, and economy require sophisticated development techniques. Computer programs, developed especially for dental alloy systems, vary theoretical compositions searching for the optimum combination for each application. Thousands of possible alloys compositions can be evaluated before the best one is determined. The alloy then undergoes functional evaluation in our dental laboratory followed by extensive field testing. The alloy you receive has been thoroughly tested and retested to assure the highest quality material.
Argen is renowned worldwide for producing superior quality alloys, and we offer an incomparable range of products and services. We are completely dedicated to our customers, and only make small batches of each alloy in order to ensure the most homogeneous and consistent alloys available.
