We have an immediate opening for a Set-Up Technician at our facility in El Cajon. The details for this job are listed below.

Position Summary

Set-up fixtures, tooling, and CNC programs on the manufacturing and inspection equipment for production jobs in a responsive manner to support a production paced environment. Routinely monitor the key process indicators to ensure the process is in control and quality product is being produced. Operate all equipment in the shop to support daily production needs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Set-up fixtures, tooling, and CNC programs on the manufacturing and inspection equipment for production jobs in a responsive manner to support a production paced environment.
  • Operate all equipment in the manufacturing area to support daily production needs.
  • Create, maintain, and update setup procedures for all critical processes.
  • Maintain process controls on critical processes through maintenance of tooling and equipment, troubleshooting, and problem solving with the operators.
  • Routinely monitor processes to ensure process control and variation reduction using statistical tools and interaction with operators.
  • Take the initiative to drive process solutions through feedback and communication with manufacturing and engineering personnel.
  • Perform minor changes and modifications to existing production CNC programs.

    Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 or more years experience in the set-up and operation of CNC machines, including Swiss screw machines, lathes, wire EDM and lasers.
  • Demonstrated set-up and operation experience with a variety of machinery. Specific experience with the equipment used at Veridiam is a plus (e.g. laser welder and cutter, screw machines, CNC lathe, wire EDM, knurl machine, ram-style forming machine, benders, and Mycrona Optical CMM).
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of machine shop and tool room practices, understanding the machining properties of various metals, and the proper application and operation of CNC equipment.
  • Must value and actively drive process optimization and variation reduction.
  • Capable of reading, interpreting and working from engineering drawings and work order instructions.
  • Strong math skills are required (e.g. shop math, basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry).
  • Ability to measure dimensional tolerances using applicable equipment to read precision instruments and see and feel product defects.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Must be able to work well in a team atmosphere, possessing flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing priorities and be able to provide and accept constructive criticism.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers, including Microsoft products.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and meet physical, mental, ergonomic, environmental and other requirements of the job.
