Job: Club Pet Boarding Manager

Schedule: Must have flexible availability including weekends and holidays

As the business manager of a ‘for-profit’ business within Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC), the individual will be responsible for producing the maximum revenue at the lowest cost consistent with the goals of the Center. Accountable for the successful and profitable operation of Club Pet through sound business practices, marketing programs, new business development and effective running of the retail store. Primary person responsible for the initial creation and analysis of Club Pet’s strategic plan, annual budget and monthly profit and loss data. Provide daily management direction, goals and objectives to departmental supervisors, reviewing issues and helping plan for maximum performance. Participate in budgeting process and monthly profit and loss analyses. Provide appropriate training, support and evaluation of department management team. Ensure consistent enforcement of all HWAC policies and procedures. Promote teamwork and positive interaction departmentally. Participate in HWAC events as needed or required.

Must have a related Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Must have a minimum of 5 years proven senior management exp., including budget preparation, managing a budget of at least $1 million, strategic planning development and implementation, new business development, profit and loss analysis, managing/developing a staff of at least 25, problem solving, planning, organizing and motivational skills. Previous experience in a boarding animal facility and public interface preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed. Well versed in PC software programs, including Microsoft Office and Windows. General experience handling human resource issues required. Experience with computer database applications for maintaining records of customers, animals, etc. Strong customer service skills necessary. Must be detail oriented and able to learn quickly. Must be able to work closely with animal dander/hair.
