JOB SUMMARY:
Audiologist
- Cochlear Implant Coordinator
Audiologists at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego provide a full range of diagnostic and rehabilitative audiologic services for children and adults. Services encompass diagnostic hearing tests, hearing aid services (including counseling and dispensing), brainstem auditory evoked response testing, cochlear implant services, and newborn hearing screenings and re-screenings.

The Cochlear Implant Coordinator oversees the cochlear implant program, including development of protocols, researching information needed for team decisions, and flow of patient care. All referrals to the cochlear implant team come through the coordinator, who takes responsibility for ensuring all aspects of the cochlear implant evaluation process are completed, and gathers the information to present at team meetings. The coordinator spends a great deal of time counseling the patient and family, and is the primary contact for the community.

The Cochlear Implant Coordinator is an Audiologist and member of the Audiology team of professionals at the San Diego, Oceanside and Escondido locations. The Audiologist is responsible for independent evaluation, interpretation and diagnosis of auditory system function. The Audiologist develops individualized recommendations, treatment plans, and provides patient/family counseling and education. The Audiologist consults with medical teams and allied health professionals and documents all pertinent clinical findings to render a comprehensive, family-based hearing health plan.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctorate degree in Audiology (AuD).

Master's degree in Audiology, if graduated prior to 2007.

ASHA certification or eligible.

California Audiology licensure eligible.

Ability and experience working independently, using critical thinking skills and processes to arrive at objective, strategic, results-oriented decisions within the context of patient care and department, division and organizational priorities.

Current CPR certification (Issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross provider).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

California Hearing Aid Dispensing licensure eligible.

Preferred, 2 years clinical experience as practitioner in Audiology with emphasis in pediatric treatments.

Bilingual English/Spanish.
