Jobing Description
Assists individuals utilizing BPSR Wellness Recovery Center services in determining personal objectives/goals for recovery and steps that need to be taken to achieve these goals; assists individuals in identifying problems that may interfere with the achievement of their goals and help them develop and use specific interventions to overcome problems; assists individuals in forming and maintaining self-help groups; Assists individuals in creating their individual service plan; teach individuals how to identify and fight stigma, negative self-talk and other factors that hinder the process of recovery and rehabilitation; assist individuals in making vocational choices, support their choices and help them in overcoming problems related to achieving their goals, including the finding and holding of a job; assist clients in building social skills that will help them re-establish normal roles of life and re-integrate into their communities; assist BPSR Wellness Recovery Center staff in identifying program environment and service modalities that are conducive to recovery; teach and role model effective ways for recovery based on his/her recovery experience and training; develop and share recovery oriented materials; assist individuals in obtaining services that suit their individual recovery needs; inform individuals about community resources/support and how to utilize these in their recovery; assist members in developing empowerment skill through self-advocacy and engagement in a variety of activities that focus on recovery and empowerment.
Skills / Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of: Employment support services and resources available to the mentally ill; psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) practices; basic computer skills and Microsoft Office applications. ‘Lived experience’ as a person recovering from a mental disorder or a family member of individuals who are recovering from a mental disorder; Working with the mentally ill from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic trends, conditions, and expectations, including the African-American and TAY populations. Ability to: Operate standard office equipment. Computer literate. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), plus successful completion of at least 12 units of colleges course work (from an accredited college or university) of which 6 units must be work related subjects (i.e. human services, health), or a certified Peer Specialist training program; or one year related experience working with the mentally ill and/or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Note: Successful completion means a grade of “C” or better. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION: Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and have use of an automobile; Please Note: “Employment will require a criminal background check and clearance.” Important Notes
