Job Summary:

Instructs children in activities designed to promote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth needed for school readiness. The Behavioral Specialist has the responsibility for implementing therapeutic interventions determined by the treatment team for targeted children in the assigned program.
• Facilitating comprehensive developmental and behavioral assessments of children utilizing Ages and Stages Developmental Questionnaire/ Social-Emotional, Eyberg and various other assessment devices.
• Updating plan and writing progress notes
• Maintaining liaisons with families, teachers and other school resources to discuss family concerns and child’s progress.
• Assist in orienting new families entering the mental health system within a therapy session, home visit or parent education workshops.
• Provide interventions using Incredible Years and other evidence-based interventions.
• May travel and represent the Center in promoting community relations through educational presentations or outreach programs in the community and areas in which San Diego Center for Children provides treatment services.
• Required to be available to work some Saturdays and evenings as assigned by supervisor and/or as clinically needed.
• Ability to physically interact in a preschool classroom.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Develop relationships with teachers, parents, school district personnel, and local agencies to advocate for child and family empowerment and education.

Skills / Requirements
Qualifications:

Individuals qualified for this position must possess at least an A. A. in Child Development, Psychology or a related field. Qualified individuals will have had training and experience in working with young children (0-5) to create behavioral changes in a preschool setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Bilingual English / Spanish a plus.

Valid California Drivers License (CDL)
