Position Summary
We are looking to hire a Quality Inspector for our facility in Oceanside, CA. In this role, you will operate coordinate measurement machines and other automated measurement equipment to perform automated inspections of fabricated parts; perform various dimensional and visual inspections of materials and products; report results of inspections; and develop mew methods and techniques in the Inspection area to improve processes and the quality of products.

Position Duties and Responsibilities
Operates coordinate measurement machines and other automated measurement equipment to perform automated inspections of fabricated parts, based on product drawings and specifications.

Sets up and performs automated inspections of fabricated parts and tooling, using a coordinate measurement machine or other automated inspection equipment.

Set-ups and performs mechanical and electronic dimensional inspection of various products.

Performs in-process and final visual inspection on all product lines.

Set-ups and operates air gage equipment to measure products.

Calibrates mechanical and electronic inspection equipment.

Utilizes sampling plans as required by specification.

Analyzes and reports inspection results.

Performs various laboratory tests including, but not limited to, surface roughness and hardness testing.

Performs routine maintenance of equipment and tooling, including preventive maintenance and maintaining cleanliness of equipment and work area.

Leads the development of new methods and techniques to improve processes and quality of products. Independently performs development activities to establish methods to produce required product and material quality.

Trains others in various inspection methods and techniques.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills / Requirements
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 or more years experience operating DCC coordinate measurement machines to perform automatic inspection of parts, based on GD&T drawings.
  • 2 or more years experience measuring components with manual dimensional measurement devices.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to operate a computer workstation and related hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of various dimensional inspection tools and equipment, including but not limited to: micrometers, verniers, dial gages, pin gages, boregages, optical comparators, height gauges, sine bars, test indicators, squares, radius gages, protractors, measuring microscope, airgage, special inspection fixtures, tape measures, material handling tools, electronic measuring equipment, replicating material, gage blocks, ring gages, borescopes, surface roughness equipment and computers.
  • Knowledge of various materials used including but not limited to tubing, 300 and 400 series stainless steels, inconel, titanium, nickel, and other formable metals.
  • Ability to set up and operate applicable machines, tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T symbols and dimensional tolerances on drawings and procedures and traveler instructions.
  • Ability to read precision instruments to 0.0001" and read J-1 letters on standard Jaeger's type chart for near vision.
  • Good mathematical 3-dimensional spatial and skills; ability to distinguish and differentiate contrast between colors as determined by Ishihara charts.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and work effectively, both independently and as a member of a team and maintain a cooperative and supportive working relationship with company personnel at all levels.
  • Ability to perform work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities, prioritize tasks, and adapt to frequently changing priorities and deadlines, and accept feedback.
  • Highly organized, self motivated, and able to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to train and direct helpers or other employees as required.
