This is for the Cardiovascular Surgery Department.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive physical assessment, treatment, psychosocial support, referral, and health education children and families in clinical, school, and in-home settings. The Nurse Practitioner functions as a primary care provider, clinical leader, educator, researcher and consultant and works with supervision of a physician. The Nurse Practitioner supports the philosophies of the department of nursing as well as the medical staff.

Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner, (CVNP) will provide direct care and management to pediatric cardiac patients primarily within PICU, NICU and all other units, under the direction of the Cardiovascular Surgeon and in accordance with the established RCHSD standards of practice. The CVNP participates in teaching, research and administrative objectives of the Cardiovascular Surgical Service.

Minimum Education:

Masters Degree in Nursing

Current California Registered Nurse

Current California Nurse Practitioner license

Current CPR certification (Issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross provider)

Certification: Nurse Practitioner, National (w/in 1 year of employment)

Furnishing number, State of California (w/in 1 year of employment)

DEA number, Federal (w/in 1 year of employment)


Experience in specialty area which include direct care and management of Critical Pediatric Intensive Care patients as a Nurse Practitioner

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years experience in clinical nursing with emphasis in specialty area

Formal in-service education and/or lecturing skills

Experience in direct care and management of inpatient congenital heart disease patients.

Specialty focus in Pediatrics

Formal in-service education and/or lecturing skills

Acute Care Pediatric Certification
