JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of a licensed practitioner, the PCA is responsible for providing and documenting nursing care for children and associated tasks as delegated by the licensed clinical nurse(s) and within the identified scope of practice for a Nursing Assistant. The PCA follows through with priorities of care as directed by the licensed nurse utilizing established policies, procedures and guidelines. Selects and administers appropriate instruments/supplies, toys and equipment related to the age, developmental level and size of the patient. The PCA is not directly assigned a patient caseload. It is the role of the PCA to partner with licensed staff in providing patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma, GED, or Foreign equivalent.

Current CPR certification (Issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross provider)

And 1 of the following 2 options:

Option 1: One year of healthcare experience (preferably pediatric and/or acute care) along with proof of completion of a Medical Assistant (MA) or Nursing Assistant (NA) program. Proof of completion of MA/NA education can be replaced with current California CNA certification.

Option 2: RN/LVN student in an accredited program that has completed their pediatric rotations
