JOB SUMMARY:
In a team environment secures and provides appropriate information to patient families and funding sources to register, schedule and/or obtain authorizations for inpatient, outpatient and/or diagnostic services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma, GED, or Foreign equivalentDemonstrated customer service skills to include ability to develop immediate rapport with a variety of customers of all different socio-economic, cultural and economic groups
both internally and externally
Knowledge of basic functionality of personal computer
Ability to type and perform data entry functions at a level needed to maintain productivity standards of area/department

Addendum to Minimum Qualifications:

Working knowledge of medical terminology as demonstrated by either prior experience or proof of course completion in a medical terminology class with a passing grade

Demonstrated proficiency in alpha and numerical filing

Ability to answer multiple telephone lines

Ability to develop immediate telephone rapport with a wide variety of customers

Ability to accurately count money

Working knowledge of the various insurance plans offered to patient families

Understand authorization requirements by payor as demonstrated by a minimum of three months experience conducting insurance verifications and/or authorizations
