Job: Environmental Services Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Environmental Services Manager assists the Environmental Services Director in care, cleaning, and oversight of all aspects of environmental services for La Costa Glen.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
• Assists with the hiring, training and supervising of all housekeepers, janitors, laundry, and lead personnel.
• Supervises the evening shift of 4 to 6 housemen, assigning projects and duties
• Inspects all common areas and scheduled cleaning on a daily basis
• Assists with the procuring of supplies, chemicals, and equipment; inventory control; and operating within budgetary guidelines. Maintains all equipment and supplies in proper condition.
• Responsible for maintaining excellent relations with the residents and promoting good departmental morale
• Performs general office paper work, scheduling, and telephone calls
• Fills in as needed in the event of staffing shortages

QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least three years of housekeeping management experience in a retirement facility, hotel, or similar environment.
• Computer proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Thorough knowledge of floor equipment, carpet care, general cleaning, and laundry equipment, and comprehensive knowledge of housekeeping chemicals and MSDS compliance.
• A passion for giving excellent customer service.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
• High School/GED education required. Special courses in housekeeping or institutional management are desirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to move throughout the building and grounds as needed throughout the day; must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Good visual and hearing acuity required; good verbal communication skills required. May be exposed to communicable diseases, and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV. May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors.
