Job: Home Care Personal Assistant - Per Diem

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Home Care Personal Assistant provides personal care and non personal care assistance to residents when there is a need. He/she assists residents so that independent living can be maintained for as long as appropriate and possible; and promotes independent living activities while giving assistance to residents.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

• Gives assistance with personal care, bathing, and dressing
• Provides caring companionship and conversation
• Provides personal driving and escort services to resident when shopping, running errands and going to medical appointments
• Prepares meals
• Changes bed linens, makes beds and keeps home clean and orderly
• Assists with pet care
• Keeps Supervisor informed of residents’ status

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must be able to walk long distances at a rapid pace; must be able to assist in the bathing and dressing of residents with disabilities; must be able to push a wheelchair with residents weighing up to 200 lbs independently; continuous standing, turning, stooping, bending, stretching and lifting up to 95% of the work day in order to assist residents, move equipment and perform other related tasks using proper body mechanics; good visual and hearing acuity required; good verbal communication skills required. May be exposed to communicable diseases, and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV. May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors.

• Minimum one year experience working with seniors
• Successful completion of the LCG home care training program
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Current drivers license with a clean driving record
• High school graduate or equivalent.
