Job: Registered Nurse - Urgent Care

The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for the triage of patients in urgent care setting. The RN provides advice and information regarding health issues and medication, completes physicians’ orders, performs clinical and administrative duties, calls prescription(s) to pharmacy, responds to patient inquiries, notifies patient regarding lab results, and provides updates regarding medical condition.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


* Assesses patient needs according to established protocols.
* Triages patients in urgent care setting.
* Demonstrates medical knowledge in prioritizing the acuity of medical needs.
* Provides advice regarding health issues, and provides information regarding prescribed medications & therapies using appropriate physician consultation.
* Provides patient education and updates regarding medical conditions as directed by the physician.
* Accurately and thoroughly communicates data from patient phone calls to ensure high quality care. Responds to patient inquiries and physician requests in a timely manner.
* Calls prescription(s) to pharmacies per physician orders, and notifies patients regarding lab results.
* Performs clinical, administrative, and other duties as assigned to maintain efficient office flow.

DEPARTMENT: Urgent Care FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt


REPORTS TO: Clinic Supervisor

* Skills: Strong clinical and IV skills required.
* Knowledge: Knowledge of medications and crash cart required. Knowledgeable of cardiac, respiratory and traumatic emergencies.
* Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients. Ability to prioritize according to medical necessity, work under time constraints, and adapt to physician preferences.



REQUIREMENTS: Must have crash cart knowledge. Insurance and Managed Care knowledge preferred. Requires 2 years experience, current CA RN license, and CPR certification. Strong clinical (ICU, ER, Urgent Care) background preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, twist, bend, reach, grasp, and pull charts. The employee must occasionally sit, squat/kneel, lift up to 25 lbs, and use wrist deviation, hand/wrist repetitions and manual dexterity. Specific vision and hearing required by the job includes close eye work, and normal hearing.



WORK ENVIRONMENT: Centre for Health Care maintains a drug free workplace, and smoke free working environment. Employees are required to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen. Smoking is permitted in designated areas outside of Centre offices.


This position works in a well-lit, air-conditioned, busy clinical setting with moderate noise level. This position is frequently exposed to hazardous exposures, and frequently uses personal protective equipment.
