Job: Accounts Specialist

A leading company in the San Diego area is in need of an Accounts Specialist with Accounting experience! The Property Accounts Specialist will be responsible for the intake and processing of all invoices and licensing agreements received by the Intellectual Property and Business Development departments, identifying whether or not there is a licensee for each invoiced expense, and calculating the licensee’s portion of said expense. Other duties include corresponding with outside patent law firms regarding billing issues, reconciling invoices, identifying shared IP partners (e.g., universities or other research institutes) and calculating invoice and reimbursement charges for patent costs. The successful candidate will also be responsible for reviewing and improving existing department accounting procedures, and documenting new processes going forward. Additional duties include preparing an annual audit report on licensing income, processing all Business Development agreement terminations and net income distributions due to Investors.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and approximately two years of accounting or business experience. The successful candidate must be detail oriented, have good analytical and problem-solving skills, and also have outstanding organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple priorities and have the ability to work well both as a member of a team and as an individual with minimal supervision.
