About Us New Haven began as a residential facility in 1967 and has provided services to over 3,500 children with a wide range of special needs. Our mission is to create an environment where children with special needs are valued and where hope, pride, purpose and health are the result of being part of a therapeutic community. New Haven provides treatment for boys ages 8-17 who, because of mental illness or abusive family history, have failed to function within the family or school environment. We offer troubled boys opportunities to become healthy and productive members of society. During the average one- year stay, we help guide young men out of the dark world of hopelessness, violence, delinquency, depression, and emotional dysfunction and prepare them to move forward into productive adulthood.
