Jobing Description
Medical Billing Specialist must have minimum 3 years Medical Billing experience in a hospital and a Certificate in Medical Billing.
Job Qualifications
a) Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
b) Experience: Experience in all areas of medical billing required. Previous experience with Medicare and Medicare Fee for Service insurance reimbursement preferred.
c) License/Certification/Credentials.
d) Skills:
- Knowledge of benefits, covered services, and billing procedures of all Government and non-Government insurance programs required.
- Ability to determine prime, secondary, and third party responsibilities amongst insurance companies required.
- Familiarity with regulations governing collection proceedings required.
- Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 codes, and basic medical terminology required.
- Knowledge of IDX/GE BAR.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- Strong computer skills required.
- Excellent customer service skills required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
Skills / Requirements
Medical Billing Specialist must have minimum 3 years Medical Billing experience in a hospital and a Certificate in Medical Billing.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods of time at computer. Ability to carry boxes weighing approximately 10-pounds. Ability to talk into telephone and hear telephone ring. Able to key on computer keyboards. Exceptional customer service skills.
Important Notes
Key job responsibilities: This position is responsible for the management of assigned patient accounts from receipt of final billing to resolution. Account management includes consistent monitoring and follow-up of outstanding Medicare and Medicare Fee for Service balances as well as other insurances. Ensuring that all claims submitted comply with rules and regulations. Governing Medicare and Medicare Fee for Service billing, reconciliation of account after payment, accurate secondary billing to insurance, patient, and other related duties that are needed to meet daily work requirements as assigned
