Jobing Description

* Veterinary technician experience in a zoo or exotic animal research facility is desirable; this classification requires California licensure as a Registered Veterinary Technician or eligibility to sit for the examination within one year of employment.

Knowledge of:
* Laboratory procedures in the analysis of biological samples
* Surgical and medical nursing
* Animal and zoonotic diseases
* Radiology techniques and safety
* Anesthesiology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
* Human CPR and first aid is desirable
Ability to:
* Move heavy materials, equipment, and animals
* Use word processing and spreadsheet systems
* Maintain medical records
* Work with teams and effectively with others
* Communicate effectively
