General Summary:
Able to assist veterinarians performing a variety of medical skills including chemotherapy, anesthesiology, surgery, dentals, radiology, laboratory and medical treatments.

7. IV Catheter Placement

12. Calculate drug dosages
13. Basic laboratory tests
14. Medical record charting
15. Legible handwriting
16. Doctor communications
17. Client education skills
18. Fluent verbal and written communication skills/English
19. Proficient at animal restraint
20. Medical terminology
21. Nursing
22. Basic pharmacology
23. Splints and bandaging
24. Medical equipment operation and maintenance
25. Use of Indwelling Ports
26. Placement of central catheter
27. Understanding side effects of treatments
28. Knowing and explaining drugs, their uses and potential risks
29. Knowledge of diseases and therapies that go along with them

Skills / Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Basic computer skills
2. Works well under pressure
3. Able to multi-task
4. Able to stand on feet much of the day
5. Able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Education and Experience:
College degree desirable. Certification as a registered veterinary technician (RVT) required. Must have at least 2-3 years of continuous work experience as an RVT.
