San Diego Habitat for Humanity

Come make a difference in sunny San Diego, California. Our goal here at San Diego Habitat for Humanity is to create affordable homeownership solutions by partnering with hard-working families in our community. To meet those goals, we are proud to team up with AmeriCorps to offer year-long opportunities to serve, learn, and grow as part of our organization; while also exploring all that San Diego has to offer. Since our founding in 1988, we have built 392 new homes and we continually look for ways to combat the affordable housing crisis in our area. Our members will serve by leading crews of volunteers out on the construction sites for both new construction and home repairs, building relationships and advocating for families through their application process for our Neighborhood Revitalization program, orienting and coordinating over 7,000 volunteers, and developing systems to improve our retail operation called the ReStore. During a year of service with San Diego Habitat, AmeriCorps members gain insight into the inner workings of a non-profit organization and gain hands-on experience in leadership, public speaking, and community development. Members will get a chance to discover the endless beaches, deserts, and mountains Southern California has to offer. To find out more about our organization, please visit our website.
