|Department Name:||Molecular Medicine - CA|
|Position Type:||Full Time|
|Position Title||Postdoctoral Associate|
|Position Summary:|| |
A postdoctoral position is available in the Gerace laboratory for a highly motivated individual to study the role of nuclear envelope proteins in nuclear organization and functions. This project is a component of the NIH 4D nucleome initiative <https://commonfund.nih.gov/4DNucleome/overview> and involves close collaboration with the Yates laboratory at TSRI. Using proteomics, we have identified a group of novel nuclear envelope proteins with potential roles in signaling, nuclear membrane dynamics and gene regulation. The individual will analyze the functions of these proteins in mesenchymal stem cells and determine their roles in adipocyte and myocyte differentiation. The person also will participate in mapping the interactions of these proteins with nuclear lamina and chromosome components. This project is integrated with other studies in the Gerace lab involving animal and cultured cell models that investigate regulation of signaling in the cell nucleus and ER. The collaborative environment at TSRI and the discovery-based nature of this project will foster multidisciplinary thinking, and will provide the potential for advancing expertise in cutting-edge cell biology and imaging technologies.
The candidate must have a strong background in the use of cell and molecular biology techniques for analysis of protein function in mammalian cells. The person should be experienced in generation of mutant gene constructs, implementation of gene knockdown and knockout, and expression of ectopic proteins in mammalian cultured cells by lentiviral and other transduction methods. Experience with immunofluorescence microscopy and light microscope imaging is beneficial.
Interested candidates are asked to send their CV, a statement of research interests and career objectives, and a list of 3 references to Larry Gerace firstname.lastname@example.org.
