Calibr, a division of Scripps Research is a not-for profit research institute located in La Jolla, California. Calibr is focused on innovative early stage translational research in the areas of regenerative medicine, cancer biology, cardiovascular and metabolic disease, immunology and infectious disease.

Position Overview:
Calibr, a division of Scripps Research (Calibr) is seeking a research scientist/post doc to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of scientists focused on early stage translational research. The research associate will work as part of a team of scientists to small molecule drug discovery for diabetes related research. Research activities include mammalian cell-based assay development and optimization and high throughput cell-based screens, elucidation of biologically relevant targets/mechanisms of action and elaboration of protein or small molecules toward pre-clinical drug candidates. Researchers are encouraged to publish their findings in high impact, peer-reviewed journals.

Physical Requirements:

This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications:

Qualifications and Experience:
* PhD with experience in chemical biology, cell biology, molecular biology with demonstrated research excellence and multitasking ability
* Previous experience in diabetes research, beta cell biology and pharmacology will be a plus
* Highly motivated, creative, and able to maintain excellent documentation of their work
* Able to collaborate proficiently and communicate effectively with colleagues and management teams
* Previous postdoctoral experience is acceptable, but not required.
* Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
* Must possess a strong work ethic
