The Grant Manager position it built for experienced storytellers with strong writing and communication skills. With 65 years in San Diego, the San Diego Rescue Mission has an incredible story to tell and we’re looking for an individual eager to involve the community in changing the state of homelessness. The Grant Manager will write all grants and manage our grant program. This individual should not just enjoy writing, but also building relationships, developing strategy and creating growth opportunities. This position will work very closely with program staff and will be asked to oversee the use and execution of grant funds.
About the Development Team
The Development Team at the San Diego Rescue Mission is a high energy, sales minded team of fundraising individuals who are excited to serve those experiencing homelessness. The Development team is responsible for implementing the funding plan and raising the support needed to maintain and grow the San Diego Rescue Mission. It works closely with our Program staff to identify and assist in meeting organizational needs. Individuals who apply for this position should enjoy a team atmosphere, have strong communication and writing skills and be able to successfully manage their own workload with ease. The Grants Manager serves as the primary writer and manager of our Grant Program. They cultivate foundation and donor relationships, develop vision and execution of program expansion, engage in compliance reporting, and supports internal & external project initiatives with an emphasis on grant writing and outcome measurement.

- To write all Grant application and proposals
- To establish & strengthen foundation relationships, timelines & proposal opportunities from application to approval
- To search & solicit grant proposal/submissions, supervise, organize, monitor applications
- To represent our Mission, Vision and Values
- To continue to grow as a follower of Jesus Christ and Spiritual Leader
Education: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a Development-related field, or 2-3 years commensurate experience.
Experience: Minimum 2 years work experience with grant writing, grant management and/or development. Basic financial skills to include developing and monitoring budgets and financial reporting.
Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of Razor Edge, MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook); typing (min 35 wpm); coordinate and/or direct a variety of complex tasks and assignments simultaneously and successfully; exercise good judgment and make sensible decisions; attentive to detail; prioritize effectively; excellent oral and written communication skills; eagerness to learn and be trained; work both independently and as part of a team; provide information to public by answering questions and requests; regular, timely attendance.
This position is full time, eligible for benefits, employer pays 85% of medical, also included employer paid life/ADD and disability plan, vacation, holidays and sick pay. Affordable dental, vision, voluntary benefits for life/ADD and a 403B savings plan, employee responsible for premiums.
