The Marketing and Events Manager position is built for a creative, strategic and organized individual who has a passion for brand development and event management. The Marketing and Events Manager will be responsible for all marketing and branding efforts including: print and design, social media, public relations, advertising and the execution of our largest annual fundraiser, Sleepless San Diego. We are looking for an individual with strong verbal and written communication skills and a proven track record of executing successful marketing campaigns and events. Individuals who will thrive in this position have excellent self-management skills, are detail oriented and take strong initiative. The San Diego Rescue Mission has an incredible story to tell so this person will bring the energy, heart and vision in sharing our story with the community. The individual will be working closely with VP of Development and the rest of the Development Team to help achieve our Development Team and Mission wide goals.
About the Development Team
The Development Team at the San Diego Rescue Mission is a high energy, sales minded team of fundraising individuals who are excited to serve those experiencing homelessness. The Development team is responsible for implementing the funding plan and raising the support needed to maintain and grow the San Diego Rescue Mission. It works closely with our Program staff to identify and assist in meeting organizational needs. Individuals who apply for this position should enjoy a team atmosphere and have strong communication skills but also be able to successfully manage their own workload with ease. Potential applicants should feel a strong calling to serve their community. The key responsibilities:
The Marketing and Events Manager is a key member of the Development team and will lead the Mission’s efforts in executing marketing, communications and event goals. The Marketing and Events Manager has the responsibilities of managing day-to-day marketing operations, the coordination of Sleepless San Diego, strengthening donor communications and being a strong representative of the San Diego Rescue Mission. This position is a self-starter, organized and creative individual ready to bring the Mission’s community presence to the next level of quality and excellence.
- To serve as a member of the Development Team
- To lead all marketing and communications efforts
- To coordinate Sleepless San Diego and other special events
- To develop and expand the Rescue Mission Brand
- To manage our efforts in public relations and community events
- To represent our Mission, Vision and Values
- To continue to grow as a follower of Jesus Christ and Spiritual Leader
Education: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related field from an accredited institution.
Experience: Minimum 2-3 years full-time work experience in events planning or marketing that demonstrates successful execution of projects and events. Must be familiar with the San Diego philanthropic community, Non-profit experience preferred
Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook); typing (min 35 wpm); coordinate and/or direct a variety of complex tasks and assignments simultaneously and successfully; exercise good judgment and make sensible decisions; attentive to detail; prioritize effectively; effective oral and written communication skills; eagerness to learn and be trained; work both independently and as part of a team; provide information to public by answering questions and requests; regular, timely attendance.
Special License/Certification: None.
This is an exempt full time position, eligible for benefits. Employer pays 85% of medical, also included employer paid life/ADD and disability plan, vacation, holidays and sick pay.
