NV5 is seeking an entry-level electrical engineer or electric utility designer to support our growing Distribution Design group. The ideal candidate will have a 1 to 5 years of experience in electric distribution power system studies, analyses, planning, and/or design. The candidate will possess a working knowledge of electrical safety codes, including California’s G.O. 95 and G.O. 128. The candidate should have reasonable computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Skype, SharePoint). Experience with SDG&E design and construction standards, along with their DPSS and SAP/iCUE software applications, are desirable qualifications.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a background as an electrical designer/planner with SDG&E as an employee or contractor.
Valid California driver’s license. Candidate should have a working knowledge of electric utility safe work practices and be willing to work in and around underground electrical vaults (with a utility-authorized Qualified Electrical Worker). Be physically able to access pole sites, some of them remote. Be willing to work in high vehicle traffic areas at times, in various locations throughout San Diego County and elsewhere at times as required.
