Director of Fun
at Welk Resorts
The Director of Fun will oversee the day to day operation of activities centers, pools and fitness center at Welk Resort San Diego. The position will be tasked with developing and delivering the most innovative guest experience programming in the industry including escape rooms, virtual reality, electric bike tours, fitness classes and more.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
- Consistently follow the I-Serve standards at all
- Follow all company and department policies and procedures.
- Attend safety meetings, keep the workplace in safe condition, and work in a safe
- Adhere to attendance policy and report to workstation at scheduled start
- Implement ideas or find ways to improve services, systems, and/or
- Manage operations of activities centers, pools and fitness
- Create and implement innovative guest experiences on an ongoing basis.
- Orchestrate all seasonal program changes and timely implementation of marketing mat
- Create and manage budgets, driving revenue and controlling
- Demonstrate an ability to manage a young staff of over 20

Education and/or Experience:
University degree; and at least 3 years of experience managing teams in the resort industry or related field. The optimal candidate will have a strong background in event management in areas such as team building, resort activities, group recreation and resort services. A strong operations background coupled with the ability to create memorable guest experiences is essential.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to edit departmental marketing materials. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, guests, vendors or Team Members of the organization. Excellent communication skills required. Must be able to speak, understand, read and write English. Must have excellent English grammar skills, including punctuation, spelling, style, etc.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to make decisions that are in the best interests of the company. Ability to be flexible and easily adapt to change. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, field personnel and sub contractors/vendors.
